As mentioned in our Home page we are in our eighth year of operation. There has been a steady growth during this period, with most business coming from Western Australia's large Mining and Exploration industry and from Government departments. We have developed a steady client base in these sectors and continue to support our existing clients whilst looking for new markets.

Services - We have carried out many GPS surveys for the Mining and Exploration industry in Australia and overseas. These surveys have predominantly been mapping drill hole collars, placement of grid lines and establishing control for aerial photography. GIS asset surveys for environmental departments and local government have also been provided.

Our Survey grade GPS equipment give an accuracy of position to 1 centimeter after a couple of seconds of occupation. We have mapped approximately 50,000 drill hole collars this way. The work has been chiefly for the large Nickel Laterite projects in WA and for Gold exploration. On a typical day 300 drill hole collars would be located to an accuracy of around 5cm. Another service is setting out grid pegs for grade control or for a closely spaced grid.

We have been used on Engineering tasks for profiling the route of a pipeline and setting out power pole locations along the route. Our GPS receivers can also record points at a predetermined spacing making it ideal for modeling terrain. It has been used for this purpose in the construction of an airstrips, volumes for pits and stockpiles and for determining the placement of channels to drain water away from low lying areas.

Each year we establish Survey control used for mapping from aerial photography. We can also advise on aerial photography. We have close links with QASCO Western Surveys; the only Australian owned company with an aerial survey plane in WA.

What differentiates us from other Surveying companies is we will work with the mining company utilising their staff and vehicles where possible to keep associated costs such as mobilisation down. This also tends to increase production as it makes use of the clients local knowledge. Referees for our work and projects completed can be supplied on request.

Training courses - on GPS can be conducted on site or at our Perth office. The course can be designed around a clients requirements. A typical course explains the operation, background, applications and technology behind GPS. We have training aids for the lecture and an illustrated booklet for each student. We have provided training courses to Mining companies, Learning institutuions, Government Departments, the Federal Law Court, and Guam's Telephone Authority. Our office is staffed by people who will be able provide detailed information on our surveying services and training courses.

Navaids has supported Chris Burton of Western Whale Research for the past six years. His focus is to obtain photo-id and position of Humpback and Blue whales so as to define residence and transit times during their migration along the West coast of Australia.

Navaids in conjunction with CALM, mapped the Bibulmum track a 300km walking trail from Perth to Albany. Another interesting project was a traffic flow survey for the Main Roads Department involving the logging of speed, position and time between key points in peak hour traffic.
